What role do you play in Public Health Unplugged?
I am the co-founder and co-lead of Public Health Unplugged, a student-led journal and podcast that aims to make public health more accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life. Through this platform, I help shape content, guide the overall vision, and ensure that complex public health concepts are translated into clear, meaningful insights for wider audiences.
What excites you about public health?
What excites me most about public health is its ability to create real, population-level impact. I am particularly drawn to the intersection of health behaviours, policy, and communication, and how these influence the way individuals understand and respond to health information. The potential to address misinformation and improve health literacy to support more informed and equitable health outcomes is what drives my interest in this field.
How do your skills and background contribute to your role?
My background in public health, combined with experience in student engagement and health promotion, allows me to approach this work with both a research-informed and audience-focused lens. I am particularly skilled in translating complex evidence into accessible content, which is central to the mission of Public Health Unplugged. My current qualitative research on vaping behaviours among young women further strengthens my ability to critically engage with emerging public health issues and communicate them effectively.
What’s your vision for public health?
My vision for public health is one that is more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of diverse communities. I believe public health should not only generate evidence but also ensure that it is understood and meaningful to the people it aims to serve. I am passionate about contributing to a future where public health communication is clear, engaging, and empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health.
