Shane Kavanagh

What role do you play in Public Health Unplugged?
Dr Kavanagh provides senior academic support and oversight to the journal and podcast content.

How do your skills and background contribute to your role?
Dr Kavanagh is a Course Director for the postgraduate Public Health programs at Deakin University. He chairs and teaches postgraduate Epidemiology 1 and has taught in other public health units. His research expertise includes community-based health promotion interventions, gender theory and men's health, student mental health, multilevel modelling, and systems thinking.

Shane is a member of the Institute for Health Transformation (IHT) at Deakin University - the Epidemiology and Biostatistics team within the Advancing Health and Social Justice domain.

Shane is also Deputy Associated Head of School (International and partnerships) at School of Health and Social Development, Deakin University.

Shane is also Associate Editor for the Health Promotion International journal.
